Parts and Restoration Sheds Re-opening 1 July.

19 Jun 2020 2:37 PM | Anonymous member (Administrator)

Due to Covid19 issues, the club was forced to close the Hale Road Parts and Restoration Sheds back in March.

As a result of completing a Covid19 Safety Plan plus a raft of other undertakings around cleaning and hygiene requirements, The City of Kalamunda has now granted approval for the club to re-open.

Unfortunately, the approval to reopen comes with a choice, and that is we comply with the Covid19 requirements or we do not reopen.

As such we have undertaken a considerable amount of work in planning the way forward for our Parts/Restoration Shed facilities under Covid19 conditions.

Apart from the requirements of Covid19 tracing mechanisms, hand sanitiser, special cleaning of the two facilities plus equipment/tools, we must install specific Covid19 signage and develop ways to manage social distancing.

These are certainly unusual times, but we must work our way through it…..For most of us we are living in unprecedented times.

I am now pleased to advise that the Parts and Restoration Sheds will be ready to re-open on Wednesday 1st July. However, to manage the conditions under which we have been granted approval to re-open, we must do a few things a little differently for now, and hopefully this will improve as we go forward. The changes are as follows:

Parts Shed:

  1. The parts Shed will re-open on Wednesday 1st July and will then operate every Tuesday and Wednesday until further notice.
  2. To visit the Parts Shed, members who wish to purchase items for their vehicle will need to “book” to attend by ringing Shed Coordinator Neil Pitman whose details are shown later in this message. This process will be managed and those who have not booked will not be granted entry.
  3. Purchasers will be limited to 30 people over both parts sheds and a time limit will be assigned by Neil. That time limit will be managed.
  4.  Each time the Shed is open, Neil will ring the helpers that he needs on the day from the pool of shed helpers and we ask that only those contacted attend on the day.
  5.  Morning tea spaces will be limited under Covid19 seating arrangements and as such members can only sit for morning tea if a seat is available.
  6. The club will no longer supply cups so members partaking in morning tea will need to bring their own cup and we ask that you take them home again. Some paper cups will be available. Tea, coffee, and sugar will be made available via a newly installed dispenser, however club provided snacks will not be available.

Restoration Shed:

  1.  The Restoration Shed will also re-open on Wednesday 1st July. Initially the Upholstery Group will not be in operation on a Tuesday while the Military Section will operate every Friday.
  2. As with the Parts Shed, it will be necessary to “book” in order to attend the Restoration Shed and as with the Parts Shed, the rule will be that those who have not booked will not be granted entry. This process is not new for the Restoration Shed, but this has not always been strictly adhered to.
  3. Morning tea spaces will be limited under Covid19 seating arrangements and as such members can only sit for morning tea if a seat is available.
  4. The club will no longer supply cups so members partaking in morning tea will need to bring their own cup and taken home again. Some paper cups will be available. Tea, coffee, and sugar will be made available via a newly installed dispenser, however club provided snacks will not be available.

Compliance:

Under Covid19, we are all in difficult times and whilst we would prefer to not operate as we have outlined above, we ask that all members respect the difficult decisions that your club has had to make.

It is important that the club apply “Duty of Care” principles during these Covid19 times.

One recommendation is that members consider installing the Federal Government “CovidSafe” contact tracing app to their phone.
