    Hi All,

My query is regarding  equivalent spark plugs for above, at the moment it has 18 mm champion D16 fitted, these are a short threaded plug with no extension of the electrode, however the head has a deep thread 19 mm or so, with no problem with hitting the piston or the valves. I have a number from the parts shed plug books ML 50 long reach, this is a KLG plug and  l can't find any cross reference for any other make or anywhere on the net that has them. l would like to find a plug that is either a long reach equivalent or a protruding electrode or both.

Any info would be appreciated. Mick.

    Hi Michael

I have had no success sourcing a long reach 18mm plug but I have had a fair degree of success using NGK AB-6 plugs. These are usually available off the shelf at either NAPA (Coventrys) or Bursons.

thanks for the replies, apparently the reason for the short plug ( D 16 champion) is to prevent fouling the plug, so the plug is correct, advice has been given to simply run a hotter plug, D 21, which should solve the problem of plug fouling at lights or ticking over for an extended time.

Plugs and new caps are going in tomorrow, watch this space!

just a final word on the hotter plugs, success, so far so good,

Must also acknowledge advice given to me from Dave Reid, Dave advised me from the start to not get too carried away, just fit hotter plugs!!.

He's right, of course, should have listened.

    Thanks dave, appreciated.

If wanting a variation in heat ranges its also possible to buy taper seat 18mm plugs and machine the taper to a flat seat and reuse old washers or use copper washers.
