Radio repair

I've got a 1970 Cadillac with the AM/FM radio in need of repair. The speakers and amp have been replaced but tuning it is a problem. My mechanic has sourced a new radio with all the mod cons eg blue tooth (cost around $1200), but the problem is that it looks modern, cheap and nasty. I'd probably just be happier getting the old one fixed. I'm not sure if I am too far in to pull out the option I'm already proceeding with but I'm interested to know if anyone knows of a reliable option to get the original radio working properly?
